SUMMARY:Erasmus+ training course: Challenges and Opportunities in the Integration of Adult Immigrants - Nordic Experiences
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to try how it feels to move to a new country? Would you like to experience Finnish winter challenges and opportunities in the snowy darkness when you might also see aurora borealis?   \nIn this course we will learn and discuss about culture\, cultural awareness and differences. We try to understand the differences between different cultures and deal with them. We will focus on adults’ education and integration. We will learn about how we can integrate migrants with different background (age\, religion\, language skills etc.) and how we can promote the successful integration in our society.    \nWe will speak about the relevance of learning new language through native language. We will learn how second language teaching includes motivating and encouraging students to use Finnish also outside of the classroom. We will handle our topics in practice and all participants work together actively (for example in pairs\, teams) and change ideas and experiences with others. We will think about how we can support and motivate adults and promote wellbeing of migrants and migrant families. \nThe course is designed to fullfill the quality standards and other criteria of a Erasmus+ KA1 Training Course for staff in the fields of Adult education\, Vocational education and training\, School education or Youth. \nMain aims\n\nunderstand the cultural differences and successfully deal with them \nunderstand how integrate migrants well and share best practises  \nunderstand what adapting means in different countries and societies\n\nMethodology of the course\n\nactive involvement of the participants \ntheory – practice – feedback/review \n\nThe course is ideal for\n\nSchool principals & directors (secondary\, adult education) \nTeachers (secondary\, adult education) \nEducational Advisors \nCommunity leaders \nCommunity workers \nSocial workers \nCivil organisation staff \nSchool Counsellors and Support Staff \n\nTeachers\n \nRegina Németh\, PhD \nI am a Finnish as a second language teacher who teaches adult immigrants at Kalajoki Christian College since 2018. I have been working with immigrants more than 14 years.   \nI am also a Hungarian language and literature teacher and Ethics teacher. \n \nAnne Wallin-Annala\, MSc \nI have been working in Kalajoki Christian College since 2004 as an English and Physical Education teacher and VET Erasmus+ coordinator. I teach in both vocational education and basic education.
